Monday, April 21st, MARATHON MONDAY @ THE WHITE HOUSE
Marathon
Monday this year hit Boston College like boy bands hit the 90Â’s: it
came, it saw, it conquered. With parties overflowing into the streets
up and down Comm-Ave, Marathon Monday is the best day of the year every
year, and 2008 was no different. The most memorable (or least, for that
matter) was the block-party thrown by the BC seniors at The White House
atop heartbreak hill, where hundreds of BCÂ’s premium party goers and
most excellent eye-candy enjoyed cold beer and live entertainment. This
was such a bash that the party was literally stealing spectators from
the Marathon itself. The Old Silver Band played a live set, followed by
the epic stylings of the Devil himself, BC senior Michael Huffstetler.
It is hard to put into words the show put on by the entirely
silver-painted Huffstetler, but letÂ’s just say it was the highlight of
many a seniorÂ’s four years in Chestnut Hill.
Check out the pictures if you don’t believe me. Here’s what to look for in the coming weeks: Modstock @ BC, Thursday, May 1st Live music, mod parties, good weather. The perfect way to finish the year. Eagle Night @ Wonderbar, This Thursday! May 1st Expect another Gongshow/Wonderbar all-out bash.
Thursday, April 17th , 2008, BIRTHDAY BASH @ WONDERBAR
As
we have learned, when the boys at Gongshow team up with Wonderbar,
magic happens. With a line longer than the cheesesteak line in Lower
dining hall, this was without a doubt the place to be on Thursday the
17th.. Providing a no-cover open bar for an hour and drink specials all
night long, everyone got dressed up and messed up for another wild
night of dancing, an drinking and debauchery. Celebrating the birthdays
of several BC socialites, Gongshow, as is always the case, brought a
beautiful crowd of silly students looking for a long night of partying.
DonÂ’t miss Gongshow events at Wonderbar and other venues in the future.
Thursday, February 21st, “Wear White Out to Black Out” at Copperfield’s
What’s
better than enjoying a cold beer with some friends?... Enjoying endless
beer with all of your friends. That was the scene on Thursday night as
hundreds of thirsty students made their way down Beacon Street to
Copperfield’s. The party had all the ingredients for an awesome night:
great venue, great people, and a great dance floor. But what set this
event apart was the music: ‘The Project’ was live and in full force.
Playing a full set of their best original music with some crafty covers
(a courageous, yet very successful version of ‘The Next Episode’),
they set the mood early and kept it going all night. ‘The Project,’
for those of you have been asleep for the last year, is BCÂ’s own and I
recommend you make a serious effort to get to a show. Overall, a great
party and a great night.
Here's your assignment for the coming weeks: Catch ‘The Project’ live at Church, March 19th, 2008 Also, keep in mind that this is the last week before spring break. People are finishing up midterms, and getting ready to party down south. That said, I guarantee everyone will be looking to get very sloppy very often. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night should be wild, so don’t sit in your room visualizing sipping a cocktail on the beach, get out and visualize pounding a Busch Light on the bar at Maryann’s.
Friday, February 8th, '100 Days' After Party, Felt
Now,
if you couldn’t make it out Wednesday night, I understand. It was a
Wednesday night. But if you didn’t make it out Friday night, shame on
you. Rez(life) threw the unofficial ‘100 Days’ after party Friday
night at Felt, and those of you who were there know: it was official.
Sloppy dance-floor, great drinks, and a who’s-who of the BC senior
class. Keep your eyes open for events like this one in the future.
Lesson #1: Never miss a Rez(life) event. Here is what's on the radar for the coming weeks: Thursday, February 21st, Open bar at Copperfields: “Wear White Out to Black Out” Party
Wednesday, February 6th, Rez(life) Magazine Launch Party, Cask'n Flagon
For those of you who missed the Rez(life) Magazine launch party at Cask n’ Flagon, you better have a really good excuse.
All systems were a ‘GO’ on Wednesday night as the folks at Rez(life) threw what may have been the social event of the semester. Everything from the unreal stylings of DJ Rick Rude to the electric dance floor came together to entertain hundreds of Boston’s finest late into Thursday morning. The girls were beautiful and the booze was flowing (and cheap, $2 bottled beer and Vodka specials). Rez(life) even supplied a couple giveaways: two lucky party-goers walked away with a RockBand game system under their arm (and hopefully one of the aforementioned beautiful girls on the other).
Who Is Mr. College?
Dear Student,
I am Mr. College, and I have one mission: to mold you, the ordinary college kid that you are, into the all-out party animal you crave to be. I will show you the light that is the Boston party scene. From the Green Line to the front of lines. From happy hour to last call. From the third wheel to the in-crowd. I will be your mentor, your friend, and your counselor in all things college. Under the alias of Mr. College, I will attend every event in the area—at all times observing, evaluating, and partying. Nobody will know my true identity. Constantly collecting intel on the sloppiest dance-floors, the most ridiculous DJs, and the wildest crowds: I will identify the “scene” and take you there. Don’t waste the best four years of your life in the dark. Check in with me every week and party to full capacity every weekend. Because let’s face it, that’s what college is all about. See you out there, Mr. College |
